Skipper Ohene Brenya has praised his teammates after Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Agbozome Weavers in the MTN FA Cup round of 32 duel played at the Ho Stadium. He described the victory as a confidence booster for Sunday’s Champions League tie against JSM Bejaia.
“The victory has come at the right time. When you have a crucial game to play in Africa and you win massively, it can only be seen as morale booster. We are really happy about it” he said.
Yusif Aziz, Prince Baffoe, Nafiu Iddrisu and Eric Donkor scored the four goals to give the Porcupines the triumph which sent them to the 1/16th stage of the MTN FA Cup. They will now play lower division side, Rainbow FC in Kumasi on a date yet to be announced.
Brenya was confident that the good performance they showed in Ho will be replicated in their continental assignment this weekend. “We are on track. Victory is all we want. We have beaten RTU, Berekum Chelsea and now Agbozome. The story will be the same against Bejaia. We are not looking back” said Ohene Brenya.
Kotoko drew goalless in the first leg on March 15 in the city of Bejaia. Only a win in Kumasi will send the fabulous team to the last round of preliminary stage. Brenya gave the firm assurance that Kotoko will surmount the Bejaia hurdle.
He called for total support from Kotoko fans saying that they have a great role to play on the road to victory. “We trust our fans. We know they are supportive. Fans in Kumasi love football. They supported the Black Stars massively. We also expect similar show of support to beat Bejaia”.
The Algerians braced into Kumasi yesterday and have been preparing for what definitely will be an engaging encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
